Joshua Paul works as a lighting designer for dance theatre productions in the fields of contemporary dance, ballet and styles of Black dance culture. He develops his own lighting installations, in which he explores light as a spatial and performative medium and approaches it from a choreographic perspective. His career began with a technical apprenticeship at an independent theatre in Potsdam, where he discovered his passion for lighting at an early age. Alongside his work as a lighting designer, he is studying interior design with a focus on light, space and atmosphere, and is exploring the effect of light in interaction with architecture and movement.
